About Free Passport Photo Maker
Our Mission
Getting a passport photo should not cost you $15 at a pharmacy or require downloading shady apps that watermark your photos and upsell you at every step. We built Free Passport Photo Maker to solve exactly that problem — a completely free, no-signup, browser-based tool that lets anyone create compliant passport and visa photos from the comfort of home.
What We Do
Free Passport Photo Maker helps you create print-ready passport and visa photos that meet the official specifications of over 50 countries worldwide. Whether you need a 2×2 inch photo for a US passport, a 35×45mm photo for a UK visa, or any other size, our tool has you covered.
Key Features
- 50+ Country Presets: Instant sizing for the USA, UK, India, Canada, Schengen zone, China, Japan, Australia, and many more
- AI Background Removal: Automatically remove your photo background and replace it with a clean white or custom color backdrop
- Print-Ready Sheets: Generate a layout sheet with multiple copies of your photo, sized for standard paper (A4, Letter, 4R, and more) so you can print at home or at any print shop
- Fine-Tune Controls: Adjust zoom, position, rotation, brightness, contrast, and sharpness to get the perfect shot
- Multiple Formats: Export as JPEG, PNG, or PDF
- 100% Browser-Based: Your photos never leave your device — all processing happens locally in your browser
Privacy First
Unlike many online photo tools, we take your privacy seriously. Your photos are never uploaded to any server. All processing — including AI background removal, resizing, and sheet generation — happens entirely within your web browser. When you close the page, your photo data is gone. No accounts, no cloud storage, no data collection of your images.
Why Free?
We believe everyone deserves access to basic tools for essential documents like passports and visas without paying high fees. Our service is supported by non-intrusive advertising, which allows us to keep the tool completely free for everyone. No hidden charges, no premium tiers, no watermarks — ever.

Who Runs This Site
Free Passport Photo Maker is built and maintained by Sukhwinder Singh, an independent developer based in India. I started the project in 2023 after needing a passport renewal photo for India while living abroad and being quoted €25 at the nearest accredited studio. Every existing online tool I tried either watermarked the result, required a sign-up plus credit card, or wanted to upload my face to a server I had no reason to trust.
So I wrote my own. After a few friends asked for the link, I put it online. Three years later it serves a few hundred people a day — mostly first-time passport applicants, parents renewing children's passports, and overseas residents renewing for their home country.
The project is a strict one-person operation. I personally:
- Maintain the 50+ country presets by reading the actual regulations published by each country's passport authority — including the US Department of State (22 CFR 51.27), HM Passport Office UK, Passport Seva India (passportindia.gov.in), Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), Australian Passport Office, and the underlying ICAO Doc 9303 standard.
- Write and review every article on the site. Each guide is cross-checked against the official source linked at the bottom of the article.
- Read every support email at sukhw1nd3rsingh@gmail.com. When a country updates its rules, I find out from a user email, verify it against the official source, then update both the preset and the corresponding article.
- Handle the codebase, the deployment to Firebase Hosting, the ad placements, the analytics, and the privacy posture. There is no team and no investor.
Editorial Standards
The content guides on this site (Blog) follow a small set of rules:
- Every guide cites the primary source. If an article claims a country requires a 2×2 inch photo, it links to the relevant section of the country's passport authority website at the bottom.
- Every guide is signed and dated. The byline shows the author (currently always me) and the last review date.
- Updates happen when rules change, not on a calendar. If the rules have not changed, the article is not artificially refreshed.
- No AI-generated faces, no synthetic testimonials. No fake reviews, no fabricated statistics. Numbers cited as “rejection rate” come from my own user-email tracking and are clearly labelled as such.
- Corrections are acknowledged. When a user points out an error, I correct the article and mention the correction in the update note.
